Introducing the Rondo, the third generation Kia Carens (called Rondo in some markets) which in its previous form sold very well he in Malaysia as the Naza Citra. Comes with 2 variants, EX and EXS. The Naza Citra Rondo will come with the 2.0L engine with DOHC CVVT valve train to produce maximum power of 145 PS or 6,000 RPM and minimum torque of 189 N.m or 4,250 RPM. Comes with 4 speed automatic transmission, the car is equipped with Gate Type and Shiftronic.
According to Naza Kia, the new Rondo is built on the D-segment new Kia Optima platform and also shares the Optima’s sweet new GEMA-based 2.0 liter DOHC CVVT engine producing 145 horsepower and 189Nm of torque, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with sequential manual shifting. The GEMA engine is a joint project between DaimlerChrysler, Hyundai and Mitsubishi. Fuel economy average of 33.6 mpg means it can go up to 12km/litre of fuel consumption.
The Rondo uses the familiar 143 bhp twin-cam engine with CVVT, with a four-speed auto as a sidekick, but the performance served up is lackluster compared to the Optima “thanks”, to its hefty 1.7 tonne kerb weight that is nearly 220 kilogram more than the Optima. You will have to push the throttle hardly for some meaningful acceleration. But then, insanely intrusive vibration happens above 4000rpm.
Larger than its predecessor, the Rondo dwarfs the similarly priced Nissan Grand Livina and its 2700mm wheelbase is 100mm longer than the Grand Livina. The middle row seat backrests are tilt able and the bench itself slides fore and aft to strike a compromise with those seated behind. Talking on that, the rear section has enough space for two average sized adults despite the lack of room for the elbow and the head. Also need to remember, those who seated at the rear, their knees will point high, but that’s entirely expected for this sort of MPV. There’s only 74 litres of luggage space with all seats up. With the third row of seat down, you will get 414 litres but the seat folding and stowing is not the easiest you will find compared to other MPVs.
The EX version features foglamps, ABS, SRS airbags, six-jet windscreen washer, a manual climate control system, a trip computer , 6 speaker sound system with a CD player, body coloured door handles, black front grille crossbars and 15 inch alloy wheels. The EXS version carries over the features from EX but adds an automatic climate control system, steering wheel audio, a roof rack and 16 inch alloy wheels.
In a nutshell, the Rondo may not be quite the perfect MPV, but with the price of RM 84, 000 for the EX while RM 88, 000 for the EXS version, it's a lot of a car for the money.

I bought the Rondo and give me a lot of problem, gear box choking
The technician don't know what cause this problem...and spare part also another issue...
Very unhappy in buying this Rondo....fuel consumption also crazy upto 0.28-0.30 cent per km
really...???
why mine soooo good..?
bought disember 2008... already use for 1++ year..
no problem.. FC around range from 7.6l/100km to 9.6l/100km..
consider high compare to my previous ride (kelisa auto.. hehehe)
spare part...?? which part ask about?
for anyone planning to buy MPV.. during comparing and test drive available model and brand available.. please exclude RONDO... because u will end with RONDO... too good meh...
What about resale value in the future? People say do not even contemplate but like the car quite a bit
Any problem with service? Have always been a Honda and toyota person! BUt Rondo really looks like good value for money
Maybe guys from Rondo should give their 2 cent worth here. A lot of prospective are watching the comments b4 deciding to buy or not to buy.
The review gave FC of 12km/ltr & owner gave 10km/ltr. Choking gearbox?
Yeah, the Rondo looks good but does it run as well? Maybe I should wait for the Rondo guy comes up with their 2 cent.
the rondo is a great car. i have been driving it for 2 years and so far I haven't had any problems. in fact i also know of other owners personally, and they too had nothing but good words to say about the rondo. for the asking price, there is no other MPV that can match the kia rondo.
BTW spare parts are also a non-issue. i was having problems with the power window switch and naza changed it for me FOC. was done within a couple of days.
Naza is Value Buy MPV Car at this moment. Do not buy 1.+ cc MPV car because you will know what is the disadvantage when you drive to Genting with 7 adults. Kia Rondo is 2.0cc with 145hp. Goto test drive both then you will know what is the different. The Rondo still very stable when you drive it on the highway with 180 speed.
FC for Grand Livina is the best around 16 to 18cents/km and
Kia Rondo is around 20cents/km (Better than Chery Easter and Naza Ria)
Maintenance Cost Nissan Grand Lavina vs Naza Kia Rondo

Goto test drive and feel it yourself.
Kia Rondo really is a good car, you won't regret. Please goto check the car review (Malaysia or Oversea). but the Naza service center really need to improve.

Do not worry about second hand value if you plan to drive it for 5 or 7 years because not much different with Honda and Toyota, some more you already save a lot $$$$$$ when you purchase a brand new Rondo compare with 2.0cc Innova or Honda Feed.
Nowadays you can see a lot of Kia Forte on the road, so do not worry about second hand value for Kia Car (New engine, not those old models). Those old models like Naza Ria the FC very very high.
Rondo is the best FC if you compare with others 2.0cc MPV car.
My Naza Kia Rondo EX model FC is around RM0.20/km. Really happy with it.
Just got my Rondo EX . Been 2 weeks already. My comments? The car is average. What more to complaint. FC is quite reasonable...i manage to get 0.19 cents per km.Just drive 90km per hour. Ok lah..not a great car but...aiyaa...ok lah....happy with it...
My Rondo EX engine 2009 timing is not preforming in good condition. The timing sometime run slow even-do the car is running fast and I have to change the gear to N and press the oil . I feel like the oil is not following smoothly. It will happen everyday. Sometime when I drive for 1 to 3 hour it will happen. Sometime nothing happen. Any advice.
I also own a Rondo since 2008 - If you feel oil/fuel not reaching your engine - check your fuel filter or best send to service center to check.
